Knights of the Altar
The Knights of the Altar is the guild of boys and young men who have the honor of serving at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Under the special protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. John Berchmans, patron saint of altar servers, the Knights strive to serve God with reverence, purity, and exactness in all their duties at the altar.
Purpose and Mission
The Knights of the Altar are formed to:
Assist the priest with dignity and precision in the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass and sacraments.
Grow in piety, discipline, and love for the Church’s sacred liturgy.
Foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life through generous service.
Formation and Training
Members receive instruction not only in the rubrics and ceremonies of serving Mass, but also in the spirit of reverence that should animate every Knight. Servers strive to deepen their knowledge of the liturgy and their devotion to Our Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament.
A Noble Privilege
To kneel so close to the altar and assist the priest in offering the Sacrifice of Calvary is a noble privilege entrusted to the Knights of the Altar. By their faithful service, they edify the faithful, honor Almighty God, and sanctify their own souls.
An Invitation
All boys and young men of the parish who wish to serve Our Lord at the altar are warmly invited to join the Knights. With the help of grace, and the intercession of Our Lady and St. John Berchmans, they will find in this apostolate not only a duty, but a joy.
