St. Cecilia’s Guild

Named after St. Cecilia, the patroness of sacred music, the Guild is dedicated to fostering the beauty and reverence of the Church’s liturgical worship through music. Sacred music, offered to God in the liturgy, is not mere ornament but an integral part of divine worship—lifting minds and hearts to Heaven.

Purpose and Mission

The mission of St. Cecilia’s Guild is to assist the faithful in entering more deeply into the Sacrifice of the Mass through the timeless treasures of the Church’s musical tradition. Chant and polyphony, the music most proper to the Roman Rite, are lovingly preserved and cultivated so that the worship of God may be rendered with fitting dignity.

Service to the Liturgy

Members of the Guild contribute their time and talent by:

  • Supporting the singing of the Gregorian Kyriale and Propers at Sunday and feast day Masses.

  • Leading the faithful in hymns and devotional chants.

  • Preparing special pieces for major feasts of the liturgical year.

Through this work, the Guild participates in the Church’s great tradition of “praying twice” by singing, in harmony with the angelic choirs.

Patronage of St. Cecilia

St. Cecilia, who “sang in her heart to the Lord” even amidst trial, stands as a model for members of the Guild. With her intercession, the Guild seeks to combine technical skill with purity of intention, so that every note sung may redound to the greater glory of God and the sanctification of souls.

An Invitation

Those who love the Church’s music and desire to offer their voices in service of the altar are warmly encouraged to take part. Under the guidance of tradition, and with the help of St. Cecilia, we strive to make our chapel’s worship ever more pleasing to Almighty God.
